Photo Album Size Chart: What Fits in an 8×12 or Instax Mini Album
Print size and album size are not the same thing. An “8×12 album” describes the album format, not a requirement to use only 8×12 prints. This chart uses the sizes listed on the live Silky Books product pages and separates confirmed information from formats that vary. It is designed to answer the practical question: will my photos fit, and which album gives me room for notes?
Quick answer table
| Photo size | 8×12 albums | Instax Mini albums | What the live product data confirms |
|---|---|---|---|
| 4×6 | Yes | Not specified | The published 8×12 product excerpts list 4×6 as a supported size; the Mini excerpts specify Instax Mini. |
| 5×7 | Yes | Not specified | The published 8×12 product excerpts list 5×7 as a supported size. |
| 6×8 | Yes | Not specified | The published 8×12 product excerpts list 6×8 as a supported size. |
| 8×10 | Yes | Not specified | The published 8×12 product excerpts list 8×10 as a supported size. |
| 8×12 | Yes | No: choose an 8×12 album | The 8×12 product format is intended for the larger mixed-size layout. |
| Instax Mini | Yes | Yes | Both formats list Instax support; the Mini products list up to about 90 Instax Mini prints. |
| Polaroid-size | Check the print dimensions | Check the print dimensions | Polaroid formats vary, and the live excerpts do not publish one universal Polaroid measurement. |
“Not specified” is deliberate: the live Mini product excerpts identify Instax Mini prints, but do not claim that standard 4×6, 5×7, 6×8, or 8×10 prints fit. If you plan to use those sizes, choose an 8×12 album or confirm the dimensions first.
How many photos fit?
Each published 8×12 product has 20 thick black pages (10 sheets) and lists support for 4×6, 5×7, 6×8, 8×10, 8×12, and Instax prints. As a planning guide, an 8×12 album holds about 20 large prints or up to about 90 Instax Mini prints. The count changes with the layout: several small photos can share a page, while a large print and a long note use more room.
The Marigold Yellow Instax Mini album and Teal Blue Instax Mini album each list 20 thick black pages and up to about 90 Instax Mini prints. Those are good choices when Instax Mini is the main format. Photos are attached with photo tape, which lets you arrange a print and a note on the same black page.
How to choose your size
- Mostly Instax Mini prints: Compare the compact marigold yellow and teal blue Instax Mini albums.
- Mixed print sizes: Choose an 8×12 format such as the radiant red, pink, or peacock teal 8×12 album.
- A velvet cover: The Crimson Keepsake 8×12 album is the velvet option.
- A wedding guest book: Read the Instax and Polaroid wedding guest book setup guide for a table checklist and sign ideas.
Layout tips for black pages
- Place the largest print first, then use the remaining space for smaller photos and notes.
- Leave a clear writing area instead of filling every corner with prints.
- Use photo tape at the corners or another stable arrangement, following the tape directions.
- Use a white or metallic pen and test it on black paper before filling the album.
Photo album size FAQ
Is an 8×12 album only for 8×12 prints?
No. The live 8×12 product excerpts list 4×6, 5×7, 6×8, 8×10, 8×12, and Instax prints. The cover format gives you a larger page for a mixed layout.
How are photos attached?
Silky Books albums use tape-in black pages and include photo tape for mounting prints. That lets you choose the position of each photo and leave room for writing.
Can I use an album as a wedding guest book?
Yes. Use the wedding guest book guide for setup ideas, then choose the format that matches your main print size.
What is included?
The published product excerpts list photo tape for mounting prints. Confirm the exact format and current product details on the individual product page before ordering.
